I'm excited to share about my postcard! I love Stranger Things and just finished watching the first volume of season 4! (Soooo good! I can't wait to see what happens!) So I decided to create a postcard about Hawkins that featured some of the props and costumes from the series.

I decided to include items from all 4 seasons of the show, so I looked up a lot of images so I could draw these items as accurately as possible. My favorite sketches are Max and Eleven's clothes from season 3!

Once I had created my sketches I started working on the text. I did a layout of the elements, then re-drew most of them in detail for my refined sketch. I also copy and pasted a couple of things from my ideation sketches, since I had already drawn those pretty well.

I STRUGGLED with the colors on this one. I made a color plan, opting to depict everything in their real-life colors, but the more I played with the colors of the lettering and background the more frustrated I got. I tried black and red, blue, green (like Hawkins High), but nothing was working.

Eventually, I decided to skip ahead to illustrate the background, and doing so made it clear that I needed to keep it simple with the illustrations. So I just did them in simple line art and I love it so much! After adding the vintage print effect, I also used the "Bloom" filter to make the white parts of my design a little glow-y, which reminded me of the glowing letters of the show logo. Very happy with the end result!
