Thank you a lot for this course! The ideas are pretty clear and simple and working through this course was very helpful.

Here is the grid of my photos I ended up being happy with.

 

I have collected quite a lot of photos of other photographers, so I made a bunch of grid with different photos and then tried to find the common denominator, because before this it just seemed like I like too many different things and there is nothing uniting them. But I think I'm onto something now.

These are grids with other people's works and my observations:

1) I definitely like warm highlights. It makes me feel like home, like I'm 10 and reading a book under a bedlight or like I'm staring at the old mirror in our family cottage.

2) and purple shadows, actually. It might be less noticeable here, but I also did go through my old photos I liked

3) I usually go for pretty equal amounts of dark and light, maybe somewhat on the darker side

4) I love love love good combination of geometric lines and softer transition. The best example is Saul Leiter's works, I've used quite a few of them. This is why I think the best name for my ideal style would be the "Smoke and mirrors"

5) The colors are muted, with the exception for some pop of orange/yellow lighting

6) more of a consideration: I want to be able to mix my paintings with my artwork, so I experimented with that a little.

That being said I'm no sure where I would fall on your categories, but I think as long as I know what I'm doing it doesn't matter ^^
