This sure turned out beautifully. I can see why people like the oil pastels - so rich and so much depth to the color. The skies are beautiful and I like how you did the green foliage below.

These col😍rs I really like that you used that  beige? Champagne? paper as your base. It has muted the luminance of your colors is a lovely way. The rough textured trees and shubbery with those smooth blended gradients is a nice contrast.

Thanks Kris, yes this paper has a variety of muted colors and is helps the pastels without all that white shining through.

Ooooh! I’ve acquired a set of oil pastels with the hope of finding something like this that I might be able to do. Have had my eye on Michelle Gooi. It’s a gorgeous. piece, Carmen? Do you think A beginner could do this? Yummy colors!

You absolutely can do this. Use the right paper one that says for pastel so is easier to blend. Her instructions are very clear. I used colors similar to hers. Give it a try.

I actually have that kind of paper and have been saving it for this sort of opportunity. Had a few “emo” rough patches lately, so taking baby steps. Thanks for the feedback. I may go to this next before any of my other drawing-improvement classes. This looks so peaceful, and the teacher’s art looks like she’s got talent. Meanwhile, I have been dying to use the lino-printing stuff, I acquired since I loved that in college art,  but I don’’t have a soft prayer yet. You did this print-making thing, right? Did you have to use a soft brayer? Again, thanks.

It has been awhile since i used oil pastels as i am not fond of dirty hands! However I was quite pleased with my results. Nice class
