Sketching Norway (Sketching Japan)

I greatly enjoyed this class with Barbara!  I find that when I practice watercolor, my paints get way too light and everything seems to blend together.  Sketching Norway (Sketching Japan) - image 1 - student project

With the sketch of the lighthouse, everything seemed to blend together and I couldn't keep one island from disappearing into another... Same with the mountains!  On my own, I would have brought out ink pens to give the different objects more definition...

With this next sketch, I got a bit boulder and tried using deeper colors...  I found that I was using the colored pencils quite a bit where I'd usually use ink and though some things blended into others, I feel I did a better job with this sketch.

I tried my best to do this sketch of my neighborhood with just watercolors but as the houses complete get enveloped into the green I felt I just had to add the ink...

I was determind not to fall back on ink and to pay more attention to Barbara's use of colored pencils and watercolor pencils for my last sketch of the scenery I have out my bedroom window.  Though the foreground could have used more definition, I'm rather pleaced with my mountains!

Thank you, Barbara!
