Silver Spoons

Silver Spoons - image 1 - student projectHi there :)

I ran with Bärbel's idea of drawing teaspoons! I dug out a cigar box of old silver spoons that I inherited from my father who had collected them from different places he'd visited over the years. So for me, this provided a personal and sentimental connection to the piece I was creating.

I did this course as part of the process of upskilling myself. I started my career as an advertising Art Director, which I did for 10 years and then for the last 15 years I've been a Brand Strategist working in agencies (and myself) for big corporate clients – but I am now in the process of making a big change, I'm interested in surface pattern design and I am exploring the many facets of this exciting discipline while re-learning the tools of the trade, namely the software!

I took this course to understand the process of drawing from life as I love nature and botanicals and expect I'll end up developing patterns using them as subject matter.

I think I may have drawn my spoons too small as I lost quite a lot of detail when vectorising, I did experiment with a larger document size but this made no difference.

This is the first course I have completed, so I'm patting myself on the back and feeling excited to keep going while I discover my path, individual style and signature.

Thanks for a wonderful course, I loved the clarity and the way you explain things.
