Salt effects for Winter Landscapes
Thank you for this wonderful class! I really enjoyed this tutorial! I did some previous experiments ahead of this class but not as in depth. However, that's something I was really eager to learn and will use frequently in the future.
I did not intend to paint night scenes but somehow it got so dark that I decided to indicate the moon and stars. The truth is, I am not used to painting wet on dry (except for details) so I am lacking experience and the colors turned darker than I am used to. That's something I want to practice more. Also, I am not doing great without reference photos so I left out the fence since it always looks awkward when I try without knowing what I am doing (see the shadows of the dog...). I am looking at this picture and I don't like the lake but I don't know exactly where or what to change except for the edges.
The shadows in the main picture look a bit weird, I know, that's also something I have to practice.
As for the Snow Drops: I used lots of salt beneath the flowers but it turned out too bright and was lacking contrast so I went in with more color. I really love this effect but it needs more practice. I was careful with the masking fluid but the edges got a bit messy and the colors I used as a background were too hard to lift so the leaves and stems are a bit messy, too. I took the photo you were using in the video as a reference since I had no idea what Snow Drops look like exactly :P.

That's a painting I did recently where I obtained the effect of falling snow flakes more by chance and wanted to explore it further.
I am very grateful for your wonderful explanations and charts! Thanks a lot and please keep up your great work :)!
