I decided to use my aunt Ruthe as my subject for this project. She is going through another round of cancer treatment and I wanted to make this for her as a reminder of how strong and loved she is.

 

I usually sketch using Procreate on my iPad, but this class inspired me to put actual pencil to actual paper.I started by making a list of words that describe my aunt Ruthe and things that she is into, and then started sketching.

Then I took photos of both sketches and moved into Procreate to refine the composition.

Final! I really like how this came out, and appreciated all the tips and advice Andrea provided in this class. I'm going to continue working on my pencil sketching and work on a few more portraits in this style - it's really fun!
