Reverse Brief

Hi Ilya, hi everybody,

This is an interesting class project! I enjoyed thinking about what this client’s real key objective would be. Curious to know what you think of my assumptions and reverse brief.

Thanks so much!

Mariko

ASSUMPTIONS

- "they look sort of health-conscious": doesn’t sound like they convey 100% their values

- "over the years" + "don’t all look cohesive": they probably used a different designer, they don't have a style guide and/or they've gradually changed their goals and values

- "small amount of sales from our ecommerce website": they set it up years ago without updating and it could be improved to increase online sales

REVERSE BRIEF

Primary Objective

To establish a well defined visual identity where all your product labels and website have a consistent, professional look that make your products clearly stand out as a healthy solution.

Insights

The look of your newest labels is not consistent with your brand because there was no clear direction or style guide available.

You indicated that whilst you like the earlier labels, they could be improved to show more clearly your unique selling proposition.

Your website hasn't been updated in a long time and it doesn't really align with your brand image which is why you don't have many online sales.

Recommended Steps

- strategic brand workshop to (re)define your goals, see if they still are what they were years ago
- design a visual identity system based on the strategic insights where we try to keep those elements from your initial labels that do truly reflect your brand values
- improve your earlier labels where necessary and redesign the 3 newest labels to have the same look and feel as the others
- provide a style guide to make sure that all visuals you might need in the future will align with your brand
- redesign/update the website to be consistent with your brand

Deliverables

- 10 redesigned labels
- style guide
- website redesign
