Retro lettering - sunshine, flowers, and roller skates!

PROJECT 1 - CREATE YOUR OWN SUNSHINE

Here is my first project for Jess' amazing class. I LOVED  playing with this block lettering style, and wanted to create a piece that felt both vintage and inspiring, with some uplifting messaging and warm tones.

Here's my first sketch - made in Procreate. I wasn't happy with the position of the sun (too centred) and hadn't quite figured out how to add pizzazz to the background at that point.

I took the illustration over to Affinity Designer and played around with vector elements, before importing everything back into Procreate for some final textures and paper effects.

PROJECT 2 - NO RAIN, NO FLOWERS

For my second project, I used bubble lettering and chose another uplifting, motivational message focused on overcoming adversity. I really struggled with picking colours for this one, so ended up creating three different colour ways. Which one is your favourite?

PROJECT 3 - LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

I designed this one in portrait format so that it could work as a greeting card :)
