These are great, Gary, and I love the looseness and freshness of this piece. And yes, it's always worth keeping an eye on the reference photo rather than my work, but it might be a case where they just need a little tidying up. It's good to take great care with details like the eye and beak, especially when the rest of the painting is wonderfully loose.

I just noticed that the eyes are off. I was looking at Jane's painting, I shoulld have been lookin at the reference photo.

Here is my puffins painting. 
I'm 78 and have started painting, I've tried acrylics and oils, but I think I'll like watercolors best.
