Procreate Inking and Shading Techniques

Inking - I enjoyed this part and felt rather confident and happy with the result.

Flat Shading - this was relatively straightforward. I enjoyed choosing the colors myself.

Toon Shading - I really enjoyed this style of shading. I think it works beautifully with inking.

Blending / Smudging - it was interesting to learn about the smudge tool but I didn't enjoy using it. It is rather tedious and looks too smudged/blended/digital for my taste. I used the blending airbrush and the smudge tool in order to practice but I don't love the style or the process, although I think the medical illustrations that Maurizio showed in class were impressive.

Finally I tried inking and toon shading the fig. Of course my brain kept telling me it was bad... My partner says it's good but I am not sure. It's quite discouraging to hear negative thoughts! I hope I will improve with time and find more satisfaction and less self-criticism. I guess it's okay, and I know I need to keep drawing and not expect perfection especially when I don't practice enough.

I added some texture and layered transparent blush using techniques I remembered from Maurizio's longer class.

I will watch the realistic lessons later on, and I would like to ink more of the drawings Maurizio provided.

A wonderful class. Thank you, Maurizio, I enjoyed it very much.
