Poster for the Short Film "Juice"
"Juice" is an amazing short film by Neeraj Ghaywan. To make this poster, I first watched the film and identified the key moments. Then I sat and thought about the key objects. I also thought through the tonality of the film and tried to match that through the use of colours.
One of the options I tried was to make a digital illustration of a desert cooler that also features in the film. Another option was to use a screenshot from the climax scene. However, none of these seemed to work effectively.
So then I tried to simplify the entire thing and just went with a illustration of a glass of orange juice which is a key object as evident in the name of the film. I also thought that it would be fun if the alpabets of the word "JUICE" could look like they are floating in the glass, so I did that. I played with the opacity and placement of the letters till it felt right. The background colour of the poster was taken from the colour palette used in the film itself.
I am not super satisfied with the font for and placement of the Director's and the lead actress' name. Would be grateful for any suggestions there.
I also look forward to feedback from the Ms. Lupton and fellow learners. Also a big thank you to Ms. Lupton for this nicely designed course. I have learned a lot!
