This was a real challenge for me. I usually paint fantasy landscapes, and you don't actually have to make your images look like the reference, but with portraits, it's necessary to really follow the reference. I learned that I need to back off a little and not try to paint every shadow. I felt like the more I worked, the farther it was getting from the reference. I did really enjoy this class, and I want to try more portraits.
