Portrait Boy

This was my second portrait lesson.I couldn’t quite get the boy to look like the photo; he ended up looking a bit older, and I found the hair especially challenging and struggled to create enough depth. Still, I really enjoyed painting this portrait. Mixing my own colors is new to me, as I usually work straight from the pans, but your clear demonstrations, limited color palette, and visible mixes made it much easier. The “color check” paper tool was also very helpful.

Tanja, you are very welcome to mention if there is anything in my painting that stands out to you, which I could be more aware of going forward in order to improve. Should I perhaps have gone darker in some areas of the face? I would also have liked the hair to be darker in certain places, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to make it look right.
