Pen and Ink and Tonal Values
I enjoyed this class though I was never sure how my inks were moving. I especially was intrigued by the idea of one minute paintings and just putting down water and moving the ink around by brush and pen made such interesting designs!
This was my first try...
And this was my second.
Moving on to really intentionally painting something didn't work out too well for me... Even with a pencil sketch I missed shapes and corners and I spent way too much time putting down ink where I wanted it, going back and adding more when the tones were too light, trying to add pen lines when the tones were too dark.
In my last drawing I tried to stay looser and I was actually pretty pleased with the background forest though the house and tree in the foreground still seem too overworked. I wish I had been able to work more of that surprise factor as in the one minute paintings into the following lessons.
The dip pen was a challenge too for me! Just leaving that ink bottle open and ready for the next dip seemed risky for me who often bumps into things and knocks things over! But I completed my sketching without a mishap!
