Role: Best Friend of the Protagonist and eventual love interest 

Name of Character: Paulo Takamura

Age: Early to Mid twenties

What is their social status?: Middle class

Employment status: Was newly unemployed, before he was then transported with 5 other people (each from different countries) to a new world

What is their job?: I'm not sure what his previous job had been, but it was a minimum wage job.

Do they enjoy their job? If so why? If not, what don’t they like about their job? What is their ambition?: No it was just a job for him, and the only one he could find at the time. Paulo doesn't know what he wants.

Where does your character live? Why do they choose to live there? : Before he was transported to the new world, he lived in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was born and raised in Sao Paulo and has lived there his entire life. His parents, sister and all his extended family on both his mom and dad's side live there as well. Also Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil so he figured he might have the best luck finding a job there or he most likely would have gone to Rio de Janeiro.

 

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

Eye colour and eye shape: He has brown eyes and slanted eyelids because he's of japanese descent

Tattoos: None at the moment, but I might give him one later on

Piercings: He has a stud in one of his ears

Body shape: Tall and skinny

Hair type, colour, length: He has short, black, curly hair. 

Favourite jewelry: N/A

Favourite clothes: His black jacket with his white t-shirt underneath and either jeans or black pants to match

What are they most uncomfortable wearing? Why is that? What are they most comfortable wearing?: Paulo hates wearing overly fancy, expensive and formal clothes like tuxedos or just suits in general. He feels like they are very tight and constraining on him and they don't allow a lot of movement. He also feels like he needs to be extra careful and vigilant when outside in something fancy because he doesn't want something so expensive he owns to get ruined in any way. He's most comfortable wearing loose fitting, casual clothing like the kind I described above. He also doesn't like clothing that draws too much attention to himself.

 

INTERNAL ATTRIBUTES

What is your character's goal? What are they trying to achieve?: To figure out who he is, what his place in this new world is and eventually trying to find a way back to his home planet earth.

What keeps them trying to achieve this goal?: 1) None of them have the slightest clue where they are, how they got to this place or how to get home

2) Paulo is very insecure and it's difficult for him to be honest and upfront with people fearing their judgement

What is their internal conflict?: 1) Paulo is very insecure about the fact that he doesn't know who is, what he wants or what he wants to be

2) He's very ashamed of his past and doesn't like talking about it, and hopes no one will ever find out about it.

3) He's not sure if he's deserving of a serious relationship with someone after the way he used to act with women.

What is their external conflict?: I haven't quite figured that out yet

If there is a romance planned, what is your character’s romantic conflict?: In the beginning of my story, when my 6 characters first meet each other, Paulo and the protagonist Lina instantly have a connection and get along well since their personalities and interests are so similar and they eventually become good friends. During this short time, Lina develops a crush on Paulo and starts to wonder if she should tell him (Paulo being completely oblivious). Paulo also started talking to one of the other girls in their group named Greta and they both develop crushes on each other. 2-3 weeks have passed by and on the day Lina is about to tell Paulo she likes him, He announces to everyone in their group that him and Greta are dating now. So as you can see initially he's in a oblivious love triangle. Initially, things seem to go good for Paulo and Greta and he's happy that Greta is different and better than the girls he's previously dated. As the months go by though things start to break down, the two get into fights more often than not, both of them don't like talking about their pasts to each other and they find out they have very little interests in common. On top of all that their personalities are polar opposite as well and all the things about Greta that Paulo used to find charming, quirky and even amusing are now getting on his nerves and making him angry. He eventually comes to the conclusion that they need to break up but chickens out multiple times when he is about to end it. Paulo then decides that he *will* break up with her after they get back from a mission. Unfortunately for him, he never gets that chance because Greta dies on that mission trying to protect Lina. This absolutely devastates Paulo and he has no idea how to process this. He then tells Lina a week afterwards that he needs to go away for a while to clear his head and get some space. Lina understands and wishes him well, hoping that he won't be gone too long. After about 6-7 months Paulo comes back to his friends and they are all delighted to see him. When Paulo sees Lina though he is absolutely speechless; not only does she look completly different but she seems like a totally different person as well. Luckily for him, eventhough Lina has changed in some ways she's still the girl he first met when they are alone together. He also tries to be as completly honest as he can with her. They very quickly rekindle their old friendship during this time and this is when Paulo truly starts to fall in love with Lina. Sadly for him, it seems as if the feelings Lina used to have for Paulo are completely gone now and she doesn't reciprocate them. Even worse it appears Lina has grown feelings for a different man altogether that she admires. So now Paulo is yet again in another love triangle but this time knowingly. He also feels guilty about moving on to another woman as he feels it would be betraying Greta's memory, eventhough he never loved or was in love with her (which makes him feel even worse about himself). 

Describe your character’s greatest fear? What will they do anything to avoid?: His biggest fear initially was people finding out about his past so he would avoid talking about it. Later on, his biggest fear is that all his friends and love interest Lina, will be killed in the battles they are about to face.

What makes your character likeable to other characters?: Paulo has a very chill, laid-back attitude about him. He's usually very kind and openminded with most of his friends and can sometimes have a biting wit when he wants to. He is also fiercly loyal to his friends and loved ones and will do anything to protect them.
