Painted Terracotta Pots

Painted Terracotta Pots - student project

Thanks Evan for this awesome class! This class was uploaded just in time. I had just received a bunch of terra cotta pots from my Buy Nothing group (a neighborhood giving group). And I am obsessed and have turned this into a whole operation. My husband says I'm "rescuing" pots.

This is my first foray into acrylic paints. Luckily, someone recommended Decoart Americana Acrylic paints to me. I love it. It finishes matte and dries faster than the other student grade acrylic paints I had.

I used Posca paint markers on this one. And I sprayed it with a finishing spray. That was a bit tricky as when I sprayed too close, it left some drip marks. I had to find the right distance and angle.

I've mostly painted over old pots. I found some advice about scrubbing them and then soaking them in a vinegar and water mixture for about 20 minutes. It's been very rewarding making these crusty old pots into something new again.
