Orca Fun
When I came across this class, I knew I had to try it. Orcas are one of the most beautiful creatures in the animal kingdom! Their beauty and intelligence are truly awe-inspiring.
I had a great time, Will! It’s always a joy to create splatters with a straw. Allowing the paint to go wherever it wants is part of the fun; the other part is letting go of expectations and accepting whatever happens on the paper.
Last year, after returning from a trip to the San Juan Islands, I painted an orca in a similar style, so I will share that as well.
Although I’ve learned about black color theory from you before, the concept resonated with me more deeply this time. I mixed colors to create blacks in my first painting, but watching and listening helped me achieve the undertones in black much better this time around.
As you can see, my first orca has a less vibrant appearance. This is one of the reasons why your classes are so wonderful. I may hear information multiple times, but it only takes that one moment for me to have an "aha" realization when the information finally clicks!
I’ll now call these paintings “Two Sister Beauties of the Sea”.
