My French Parrot

This was SO much fun! I am very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this and how beautiful and artistic it came out.

I played around with a bunch of different accessory options, but ended up landing on a beret. I think I picked that because I recently drew a stylish girl wearing one and I was like, "very chic!" so might as well. I don't know, the slope of the parrot's head just.. fits with a beret, don't you think?

Making him colorful was very fun, doing it by just looking at the image next to it and kinda making my own decisions based on what I saw was lovely. This felt like such a good class for me to learn how to really stylize and illustrate by sight and simplification. I love the other animals I did, too. I tried doing a bear but got stuck on that one.. But played around with a cute fish and a gorgeous lion, and I'll include those below. I just didn't end up coloring them in and playing around with them—YET!

But super fun.

Yeah, and then I leaned in. The parrot is wearing a french hat, so the parrot is.. french. So of course, a cigarette, a "oui oui", the works. So much fun! Thank you for this class!

Here's my final parrot in full size:
