Mandala gone wild

I designed this tattoo for myself because I wanted to wear a piece of my own art. I draw ornamental and abstract graphics, so I took one of my ornamental mandalas as a basis for the tattoo.
An average mandala I make is very rich in details. It felt wrong for a tattoo sketch, so I took a couple of key elements, like circles and simple shapes to fill them, and made it into a hint of a full round image. I then took a line and made it run freely along the arm with consideration of the anatomy and combination with the mandala on the shoulder. Several circles scattered across the whole tattoo are to add balance to the composition and diversity to the image. And then there are some colour accents which make the tattoo more lively and help connect it with the tattoo I have on the inside of my arm.Mandala gone wild - image 1 - student project

This is the original sketch. Some things were gone once we tried it on the body.
