Magical Book Illustration
What can be more inspiring than diving into the world of magical books?...There are sooo many things you can imagine...and then even try to paint:)
Regardless of the style and skill level, the experience is always so rewarding.

I have a whole set of enchanting books in my home library, and I found some inspiration in classic (and modern!) fairy tale editions.

The first artwork is a spot illustration for the classical Beauty and the Beast. The Rose is such a symbolic object, and I wanted to showcase its rich texture and elegant lines. I used Cobalt Blue as a contrast to the Quinacridone pink of the petals.
I always begin with Thumbnail sketches to test the composition and make some small color studies.

And then I can dive into endless layering and bring the idea to life.

The second artwork is a digital painting made in Procreate inspired by Cinderella.
The first step usually is inking the outline and planning the color palette in advance.

I used blending modes, gradients and textures to bring a Cinderella slipper illustration to life.

Thanks for joining me in this enchanting journey of Book Illustration (and composition:)
