Loose Watercolor Landscape - #'s 3 & 4
Update #2: Adding #3 and #4. It seems something is better in each one, but something else didn't work out so well. My red splashes aren't pleasing to me. The sky turned out too dark in one of them, while there are weird watermarks in the other. Not satisfied with the meadows on any of them. On the bright side, it's been good to keep doing this same exercise over and over. So interesting to get such different results each time.

Update #1: I did a second one and see improvement. I still had trouble with puddles in the sky, which is frustrating since Paul uses a lot of water and his turn out beautifully even. I also haven't mastered "dabbing" in the magenta, the yellow, either and making them blend.
I was happy with the flower, but not so much the grasses on the bottom. I kept trying different brushes, different strokes, sticks, but didn't get the effect I wanted with softness, layers, and a few nice grass strokes closer. I might do a third, as Paul recommends repetition is a great way to practice and this simple study is perfect for that. I also located a scanner on ebay (slightly used), as Paul described in his comments on another person's project. That would make posting these so much easier than trying to do it outdoors in the sunlight, though that lighting is my favorite. The scanner would be convenient and consistent, and could be done at any time.

I really enjoyed making this. It was quick and I resisted the urge to fuss over it, which was so nice. Just let it be as it is. That said, I did enounter some mishaps, so would appreciate some commentary and suggestions. Thank you, Paul. I really appreciate these short classes. They are helping me to get over my perfectionism and judgments, and just have a good time.
