Lively Watercolors

I’m so happy I took this class; it came at just the right time, when I needed to practise my watercolour skills after not painting for almost half a year. I loved the class project so much—it was a simple subject, which allowed me to focus more on playing with colours: blending them and watching how they react to each other. I love this colour combination so much. I could have chosen a different subject, but I wanted to paint this teacup with the ginkgo leaf; they’re just perfect.

Colour wheels were such a great exercise. I’ve created colour wheels before, but only using the traditional primary colours. I’d never thought of using other colours as primaries. Once I got the hang of it, I created several combinations, but nature’s colours are my favourites.

I loved how the theory came together in the landscape painting. It was packed with so much useful, practical advice. I definitely need more practice with trees, but overall I gave myself permission to enjoy the process. Thank you, Barbara.
