I've been taking some wheel pottery classes over the last few months, and once I got a bit of a handle on things, I decided to start experimenting with decoration. What better way to do that than to put letters on pottery you've thrown yourself? These are the results so far.
First up: the Everything Is Terrible, Nothing Is Good mug/vase. Initial pencil sketch and black underglaze (pencil burns off when fired in the kiln, so I was not too concerned with leaving marks on the surface):

Next up, some shading! I wanted to get a ghost-sign look, so I tried not to go over the same area too many times so that when fired the surface would come through:

And, final product:

Other side:

Digging the super-light pink shadow on this side.
Up next, the Whatever Bowl! There is a linear texture on the underside of the bowl that I decided to echo with some wispy, multi-line lettering:

After much erasing and repainting I was pretty happy with it:

Final result, after firing:

And finally, the Dostoyevski (?) Quote Vase/Mug! I divided the surface into sections with more care since I wanted the lettering to tightly wrap around the mug (You can see one marker above the h here):

The final result, from all sides:

Very happy with how it all turned out!
