Kyoto - Matchbook
This is the second Matchbook project I completed, my first being my 'Keep the Lantern Lit' for Di Ujdi's Illustration, Vintage Design and Print Textures course where I detail a little more of my process.
I think this design may be a little too delicate for an actual matchbook but love the look. I was greatly inspired not only by ornate Japanese matchbooks but also by vintage Japanese Risograph and Woodblock prints.
Although I am happy with the end results I will be pushing exploring more font options and colour for this piece as I don't feel its 100% finished.
Thanks Di for another great class! I am trying to learn more about typography and this course was very interesting regarding some of the history of these typefaces! also very helpful tips.
