Just finished parts 1 - 5.  Here is my first version without any randomization, textures or textures.

Next image is with the textures made by the "copy, reduce & flip" technique and then put into repeat.

(I don't have AI CC, only CS5,  so did the repeat the old fashioned way!) 

Final part of the project I did a mockup for a candy tin. Good class Rich!
