Hi Violet, Apologies for the delay in replying.These look great! I can see how you've taken the rules of proportion for the 2D face and applied them to a real face. This is a really good base for a portrait drawing. One extra tip that I dont think I mention in this lesson is to see how the corners of the mouth line up with the pupil of the eye - often the corners will line up straight with the pupil and this can help find if there are any errors in the spacing of the eyes or the mouth. You've got a good grasp of the 3D head and you are correct the lips do need to fit the rounded shape of the front of the face. This is a case of where, if you were using a reference photo, you'd start with the 3D method and then shift to looking for shapes in the lips. Because of foreshortening, the half of the lips that are facing more away from us, will be compressed - shorter and a little bit less tall. But you really do need a reference photo when it comes to details like that so don't stress about it :) These are great studies and I hope you find the info useful when you move on to drawing full portraits - you can mix and match the methods or use whatever feels most comfortable for you. These for the 3D portrait. I had a little difficulty making the lips as I guess they have to fit the oval shape.
