Ink Techniques with brush and nib
I'm not sure how successful this turned out... It is my first time painting with ink and I couldn't really tell what the advantages were to drawing with watercolor paint... Anyway, I dove in with some blue document ink that I had and I used a small sized watercolor paintbrush instead of a Japanese calligraphy brush as the teacher mostly uses... It took a bit to understand how to deepen the color (actually it took awhile to figure out how to apply the ink lightly!)
I'm not sure why I chose to draw this Japanese lady in a field... maybe because we were working in ink and ideally a Japanese brush? Maybe because we are getting into rice planting season? I just pulled up a picture from the internet and added tress and grasses as I liked...
I certainly couldn't gain much control over "drawing" with my brush and I added lines later with a dip pen... I didn't count all the techniques I used, (the teacher had said to use 7 technics) but I did my best!
