Imagined Cabin in Nuksuio, Finland

Nuksuio National Park, one of the first stops on our honeymoon, is a sea of quiet lakes, rustling trees, secluded paths, and endless wild blueberries. It was there I returned, at least in part, for this project - I relied on my memory and Pinterest as I didn’t have a reference image suitable for this class.
Some pictures come easily, but this one came hard - maybe I am better at drawing from observation and reference images rather than compiling pictures into an imaginary scene. It took me a few attempts to get the composition and colour gradation right, but in the end I got an image that I was reasonably happy with, one with vanishing points and horizon lines, and that I felt was well composed, which invited the viewer into the scene.
The tips on using paths and how to construct picture planes is something I will take into my Sam’s Landscape Sketching Class.
If I were to change it, I would include something that indicated a campsite - I’m not sure what that would be in this picture, or if it would be realistic, which I why I decided against inclusion. Without it, such a thing, the image feels cold and empty, which is an effect but doesn’t quite capture the feeling of Nuksuio, a place where it’s perfectly normal to walk past two campers cooking meat and veg over a controlled fire pit while playing Magic The Gathering…ah…the Finns…
