My thumbnails as I was trying to nail down an idea. This started out as a very dreamy painting of the woods shrouded in green fog, and then sort of went off the rails.

ETA: A quick sketch when I was trying to do the assignment properly. I love some of the effects I got, but every picture I took of it was just awful for some reason. 

 

My final picture. I may have arguably gone a little overboard, but this was so much fun for my first go at gouache. I was a bit worried that it would turn out terribly, and there are definitely things I want to do better, but I enjoyed painting this enormously.
