Floral drawstring bag

I had a bit of experience with embroidery and was looking for a refresher and a nice pattern.

1. Sketching out the shapes and composition

2. Blocking out some colours to remember

This is one of the learnings I took from digital illustration, to have some thumbnails with rough colour filling to see if it looks harmonious together.

I've done this with my editor in the Gallery app on my phone, nothing special.

3. Tada! The finished product

A few mistakes I made:

  • I used the same coloured floss for two adjacent flowers when they were supposed to be different shades, lighter and darker.
  • I used French knot for the lilacs before seeing that loops were used instead in the class.
  • The work is a bit off centre after removing the hoop

This was a fun project, thanks Hilary!
