Expressive Watercolour

Expressive Watercolour - student project

Oh I enjoyed this as much as all the other portrait classes of yours I have taken Will! There are lots of things I need to practice and can improve on - the eyes being one for sure. My rendering of the lips could perhaps allso be softer. I tend to play it a little safe, and the facial features could perhaps have been a smidge more prominent in colour, but overall I am pleased with the final outcome.

As with some of your other classes, the more abstract sections are the ones that always seem most daunting to me, and yet those are the parts I enjoy the most. For instance, I allowed myself some freedom with her blouse and really love how that has turned out.

Thank you for being an amazing teacher Will; I might actually give this one a second go, attempting to add a bit of my own style & personality into it here & there, as something about this portrait has captured my heart, and I would love to have a more delicate result on the eye.

I do think I would like to paint the horse first before I do that though.
