Exploring Brushes and Florals

I've only used round brushes previously to taking this class.   I'm still a beginner, but am mostly comfortable with this classic brush.Exploring Brushes and Florals - image 1 - student project

I bought a set of filbert brushes for this class.   It is pretty easy to use as an extension of a round brush.  I still have some getting used to for petals, but had fun with it.

The dagger brush is going to take a lot of getting used to.  I only have one size and it is a bit on the large size.  I look forward to more practice with this brush and getting used to the unique shape and function of this brush.  It was tricky to figure out which angle to use the brush at for the most effective shapes of petals and leaves.

I only have one cat's tongue brush and it is HUGE!  Doing this was a challenge.  I am trying to figure out how to use it.   I am not sure why my small flowers have such an odd shape and didn't follow the shapes like the leaves did.  It may be the size of the brush.   I think I'll order some more sizes of the cat's tongue and practice some more with it.   I can see that it will end up being a lot of fun.

I like this flat brush project better in person than I like the photo of it.  Obviously, I can use more practice in blending the colors on the flowers.  This was a fun texture to paint with the twisting of the brush to make the petal shape.  Sadly I covered up some of the cool texture with the darker color.

Now that I have tried all of these various brush types I definitely plan to use them again and get more accomplished with the unique qualities of each brush.
