Egyptian-Style Sidescroller

Egyptian-Style Sidescroller - student project

Hi again, Simon!

I ended up continuing the Egyptian-theme from the itemset course and made an Egyptian sidescroller. The techniques you taught for making tiles in Krita were incredibly helpful and this project was challenging but also a lot of fun!

The level design is inspired both by your tutorial but also a specific temple in Karnak, Egypt. I used this video from Assassin's Creed Origins (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdo3UT5hwvs) as my reference for the background, brick tiles, and carvings on the building. I used a whole bunch of other references for the acacia trees, palm trees, pillars, ram statues, boat, water, and of course, the main "character" inspired by Anubis, the Egyptian god of embalming. For the UI, I wanted this "game" to be more of a point-and-click adventure lie the old LucasArts and Sierra games so I made a command menu instead of HP and level. I definitely still need to work on shading and color choices, but I found out through this project that hieroglyphics are very fun to draw in pixel art. :)

As always, any feedback would be very much appreciated and thank you once again!
