Door in Izmir
Fun project! I did a door from Izmir, Turkey that I took a photo of last fall. I really loved the ornate grillwork and of course the cascading bougainvillea. But I probably would have been better off choosing something a bit more brightly colored!
My favorite thing about doing this project was that it reminded me to mix different materials. I usually just pick up one pen and keep on sketching! For this one I used a Platinum EF, Pentel brush pen, Pitt SB and Molotow F acrylic marker. Paints are Van Gogh and Daniel Smith.
March 8, 2022 - I haven't painted a door since I did the above project, but came across a photo on Pexels the other day by Mauricio Borja that inspired me. The shadows are what drew me in. Also the yellow. Tried about a million times to get a good picture of this but didn't have much luck - this is the best of the bunch!
