Doodle simple human figures with Cathy Wu
Objectives: re-discover how to draw quick, stick-like figures to work on body language and give life to my characters
Process: I had a look through my old digital sketchbook, because I remembered a (short) period where I tried my hand at stick figures.
I was even quite restrained and didn't look (too much) at other sketches (although I took note and definitely plan to go back once I'm at a more detailed stage).
I only did a few of the exercises, because once I got into the flow, I really just wanted to use it to study body language for now (of the whole body), and not poses/motions.
I did use both basic stick figures and slightly more complex ones, because I felt I needed it to convey some subtleties of the gesture (which I'd want if I planned to use the sketch for a drawing afterward, without having to reference the picture).
Conclusion: I'm rather happy with the final result and ready to move on to drawing figures on my own, or maybe try another class on the subject to push myself a bit more.
Thank you, Cathy Wu!
