I had never drawn a dog before but after watching this amazing class I felt confident enough to have a go at sketching two dogs for a couple of friends.

They were both really happy with the end results, as was I, and I look forward to doing another one for my sister-in-law for her birthday.

I used the grid method to get the main areas of light/medium/dark areas and some of their features too, down on the paper. After that I just concentrated on using the correct pencils for shading.

The first sketch (the small dog with the floppy ears) took about 4 hours while the second one took about 3hours. Both are roughly A5 size in a A4 mat frame.
