Hello Susan Incredible movement in your lines! Gesture drawing is so important to the flow of your artwork. It's a 'feeling' of movement and is applied by working from the inside out of the subject matter. The lines are built up to create mass. It is so important that each line has a purpose. Every mark you make must be there with the intent of not just filling an area. Making gestures has been used for centuries, yet it is one of the more difficult lines to make. The drawings you made on the upper page look overworked on the right side of the figure. The lines are worked more on the edge of the figure than from the inside out. The last (2nd three minutes) drawing on the bottom is much better. The lines are not so controlled but are flowing more, especially in the middle section of the figure. Excellent! Gesture drawings are fantastic practices for improving drawing skills and the ability to "see." You have an excellent beginning to the process. I would keep drawing many gestures... even filling up a sketchbook. Take a few minutes each day and see how your images will progress. It's amazing! Thank you for sharing your drawings! This is hard doing 10-15 seconds but I see the value in practicing this technique many times.
