Following up on this for anyone interested... I put the word out to some friends, family, and coworkers about an interest in consulting/research work (similar to my day job), and negotiated my first (very short term) contract for &gt;90$/hour. In the next 2 months I will have reached my goal of saving $41k to pay off my student loans, but will keep the money on hand for now to invest and use ~1 year from now in case I can't get enough scholarships for grad school (MBA). The loan interest is low, and my loan payments will be paused when I return to school again. Hopefully I'll graduate and pay off the rest of my student loans immediately.
