Casual Birder Class Project

Spot a bird, take a photo, run through the 5 things discussed in class.

Location: Flowery Branch, GA

Season/Date: February 13, 2023 Mid-winter

Habitat: My backyard - suburban, woodland behind home

Type of Bird: Hawk

Species: Cooper Hawk

I am a casual birder and thought this was going to be too basic but I have been to the Galapagos Islands and Peru so I really (!) enjoyed seeing her video from those locations.  I do look forward to watching it again with out granddaughter! Thanks.

This morning at my table I looked out and there was a hawk under my bird feeder looking for the chipmunks, squirrels and song birds who flock to this spot. This may sound silly but I thought a coopers hawk was larger than this one...but since I had just seen the class video I didn't second guess it was a coopers.  In that way the class grew my confidence.

This was a case of the bird coming to me and the photo isn't real clear (screen on window) but I was excited to see it anyway!Casual Birder Class Project - image 1 - student project
