Bright flowers and bold brushstrokes

I loved doing this class! Since summer ended and everyone is back to school and work I've been so busy. It was lovely to slow down and paint some flowy and relaxed flowers in between aal that :)

I liked learning about your brushstrokes because they are quite different from what I'm used to doing. Most of all I learned (or was remembered) to slow down and paint mindfully. I tend to paint too fast, impatiently almost, but it's nice to pay attention to how I fill the page and to the details of individual flowers :)

I did a lot of practicing.

The flower shapes and colors reminded me of nasturtiums, I love growing those in my garden.

Very different colors here + added splatters.

Here the colors are very soft (a bit too much for my liking). This is a piece I painted too quick I think and I end up just filling the entire paper without much eye for composition. Maybe I should return to this one and work on it some more...

And then these were my final pieces:

I added lines with a dip pen and walnut ink (which I also used in the flowers).

And then I returned to the nasturtium shapes because I liked them so much. I could add some more layers here, but I'm also a bit afraid to do too much...

Anyway, your course was very inspiring to me. I'm now wondering what it would be like to add collage to these kind of paintings. Thanks so much Holly!
