Bird of Paradise
For my first set of lino prints, I wanted to draw something tropical. Where I grew up, bird of paradise was very common and grew wild in think groups of bright green, yellow, orange, scarlet and deep blue. I started working on soft-cut as I was told it might be easier to carve than lino. The carved block is in the middle with some test prints I managed to get on different textures of paper I had.
It took a bit of practice to get the consistency of ink just right and to have good coverage of the block with the brayer. It was a super fun process and I plan on doing a lot more of it.
After the printing, I scanned a few and tried to colour them digitally. I am not completely satisfied with the colours and the brushes but that is an issue for another class :P
Thank you Emil for a fantastic class!
