Backing The Blue

For quite a while, I have been taking pictures just relying on what the camera was set to aka default settings, with the exception of adjusting the ISO every now and again. For the most part, the shots are decent, some of them dare I say good. I decided I really wanted to get to know the ins and outs of my camera, a Canon EOS-1D that I bought after I gave my son my Rebel. This thing was more than I was ready for, but I've fumbled through using it. It wasn't until I did some indoor photography, something that isn't my passion, but something that I do more of that I realized that I stated looking for online courses, which lead me here. SO, all of that being said, I decided to do an indoor shot for this project, really playing with all the different settings trying to get the most out of the shot and the camera. I know I still have a lot of practicing to do to get it down, but practice makes proficient. This shot is inspired by our being a law enforcement family and it is also suicide awareness week. My husband suffers from PTSD and we have made it our mission to be a sounding board for these topics in the LE community. No one, LE or not, ever has to go through their struggles alone. We are all in our own way broken, but broken can still be beautiful.
I am adding in the link to my blog on which I'm doing a 30 day photo project. I hope you enjoy the stories behind the photos I'm taking https://mliscross.wordpress.com/
