BUILDING RESILIENCE

Q: What kind of events have been most stressful to me when I look back on my life?
A: Marital separation was the most recent event.
Q: How have those events typically affected me? What were my first thoughts/actions?
A: I lost my purpose in life and I lost the only family I knew.
My first thought was to reconcile. My second thought was to never give up on my family, even though they had given up on me.
Q: Have I found it helpful to think of important people in my life?
A: Yes. I thought about all the people that went through something similar and how they overcame their struggles.
Q: To whom have I reached out for support in working through a traumatic or stressful experience?
A: I reached out to God and those that were kind to me. Some were friends. Some cared, while others did nothing...
Q: What have I learned about myself from my interactions with others during difficult times?
A: I learned that I didn't know much about resilience, grit, relationships, patience, and appreciation.
I was very naive and I thought love could win at the end. I believed in "together forever" and "until death due us part."
Q: Has it been helpful for me to assist someone else going through a similar experience?
A: Yes. Ever since I opened up about my situation, I'm more able to help others in their struggles.
I am more patient, loving and caring. I'm very proactive in help others in their suffering. A smile sometimes hides a heartache...
Q: Have I been able to overcome obstacles? If so, how?
A: I overcame many obstacles so far. I realized that part of the solution is not so much as looking at the problem that's in front of you as much as the problem that is within you.
The true obstacle is how one must overcome oneself first. Overcoming obstacles in life begins by understanding the inner self. The solution is a byproduct of that inner change.
I'm still struggling to overcome obstacles. I'm learning how to get by every day and taking one step at the time. Overcoming obstacles is a part of life.
The common struggles of life will never disappear. It will only become easier to deal with as you build your character and resilience.
Q: What has helped me feel more hopeful about the future?
A: This class contributed a lot and my faith that all struggles will end eventually.
Revelation ( Apocalypse ) 21:4 : "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” - NWT
