This project at first looked complicated but is actually was easy to follow. The teaching illustrates so clearly how the painting comes to life by contrasting

Dark/light value

Warm/cool colors

Complementary colours (blue/orange)

Muted/bright colours (not so much in this project that has an overall muted autumnal feel)

Soft/hard edges. Lost and found edges.

Small/large shapes

Positive/negative painting of shapes

And there is diection of movement along both diagonals that seem to intersect between the 2 main flowers.

I'm still just copying from the finished painting reference - while applying what I learned from the lessons. 

But getting itchy to try composing myself!
