Attitude: Mind over Matter
When I worked as an office assistant during college part-time (work study), I worked with multiple administrative assistants, peogram assistants, etc. All of them were pretty competent in their jobs. However, one sticks out in my mind for her exceptional performance. She received multiple promotions after reentering the work force and working her way through the campus roles, then transitioning to another larger campus with a different title. I remember she was incredibly friendly and dealt with stress well which made her well equipped for anything that came her way on the job or in life. She received a higher volume of work after a workplace change and dealt with it well; she also advocated for herself when her hours were increased but the pay was not and received the compensation she was seeking without stepping on any toes. Her attitude and dedication to going back to school allowed her to leverage her experience and continue to grow.
