All Projects in this Course...
This was a very fun and brief course to get up and running with both vectoring and Affinity Designer. I am quite experienced using Inkscape but new to Affinity and that was my main reason to sit through this course.
During the course many mini-projects were completed, and below you'll find a compilation of all the work (minus the Valentines card). As our creative license allows.. I have often made minor tweaks in color or execution but never strayed from the intent.
It all starts with a Tree
Learning the tools and interface by building vectors using simple shapes.
And then we make some More Trees
Continuation of building a vector using basic shapes. Some simple techniques such as adding shading to the tree, highlights to baubles.
A Dog, a Bone and a Carrier
Continuation of vector building, use of boolean operations, simple shading.
A Logo.. or a Tulip
Shape duplication, transformation, gradients. Supposedly for a logo, but I turned it into a tulip. Still using basic shapes and boolean operations.
Mountain by Night
First use of Pen Tool. After some practice .. a simple mountain scape, a lonely crescent moon and some shiny stars. Use of filters to get that shiny effect.
Sketch to Vector
Next project we did was translating a sketch into a vector. Design provided by Jay and it is lovely. More advanced use of the pen tool, clipping mask, gradient fills.
Cactus
Vector Persona to create a cactus, Pixel Persona to add some texture. Clipping masks, pixel brushes. I've used a different approach for the spikes and made them really pointy.
Flower
Not my favorite thing in the class - but that is mostly due to the clunky way AD handles these type of operations (sorry to say but Inkscape's clone and tile functions poop all over AD). I also chose very different colours than suggested in the lesson.
Simple Character
Jay made a dude, I made a chick. With purple hair. Same techniques, building with shapes.
That's all Folks!
