This is super beautiful Denise. Can I use YUPO paper or do you think I should get the mineral paper?

Thank you! You can definitely try Yupo paper but Yupo paper is different than mineral paper. Yopo is plastic and Mineral paper isn't. Yupo doesn't absorb any of the liquid or paints... whereas mineral paper does a little. You can also do these on regular watercolor paper. Definitely experiment. It is fun either way!! :)

I have taken a lot of online classes from a lot of very well known artist from all over the world in fields like Enameling, polymer clay, silversmithing, precious metal clay and painting of all kinds. I have to say, I have enjoyed your classes the most. I love your excietment and the little giggles that bubble up, lol I do that same thing...lol I have also learned so much from you. I am downsizing my art studio and building a new one, I am mostly going to just paint because the older I get the harder metalsmithing is on the body...lol So, I am planning on watching all of your classes. I have watched several so far and absolutely loved them all!! You are generous with information and it is a pleasure learning from you!! Thanks for all you do!

Thank you! You've really made my day! You sound just like me - I love to dabble a bit in it all... I too have done some metal smithing, jewelry making, precious metal clay, etc... I am so curious about how others do things... or maybe I'm just nosey... LOL! I've narrowed down the hobbies I focus on for now... I can only have so many expensive hobbies at the same time! But I'm sure I'll revisit some when I get a wild hair and I'm ready to mix it up again! :)

lol That's just how I look at it all too. It makes life so much more interesting and fun! Oh also I was wondering about the paper, they are now selling 240 GSM. I was wondering if you have tried it? I'm going to order some to see how it behaves.

Oh! I didn't realize there was more than one weight. I think I'd like the 240 gsm better. This paper is cool, and I had fun working with it, but it is a bit thinner than I would prefer. I like thicker papers. I might have to take a look and order some to play on! Thanks! :)

Always love your classes, Denise! I really love how your artwork look when you add marks after they’re dry. That’s the part that always makes me freeze though! I’ve messed up some things I’ve made that I really liked in the past. How do you decide where to put marks? Which color to use where? What marks to use? Do you have a process to help you decide?

I don't have any real technique I'm using for adding marks. Just going by gut feeling. 

For colors - you could usually always go with white, gold, silver or black and not go wrong... for marks... that is just figuring out what marks you tend to love or gravitate toward and going with that til you have some new marks you love. 

I love scribbling - so I do that a lot. I love dots - so there are usually some dots in there. I've done plenty where I thought - "oops"... LOL!  

What you could consider doing is making a color copy of the pieces you love and you aren't sure of... then you could mark on the copies til you think you've figured out the perfect finish for your original. That way you aren't ruining the piece you loved before it is finished. 

I also have a mark-making idea guide I made for the Rolling Stones class you might have downloaded (pdf under the resources tab in that class) - I keep that hanging on the wall over my table  - so when I am stuck - I have some ideas to refer to.

I also love Denise's classes!  You could tape a transparency over your original and mark make on that to see what it would look like.  Then you just clean it off when you're done so you can use it again!

I am obsessed with mineral paper. It is such a different feel than watercolor paper and is less plastic than Yupo. The inks do great on this paper!
