Abstract Flowers

This class was a good challenge. I enjoyed the process of creating each flower and got some new ideas that I plan to incorporate in my watercolor journey. I especially liked the layering of the buttercups and dabbing in the centers while still wet, the splatter in the roses that you move around and blend to make a light background, painting on top of the wash in the lavenders and adding or leaving in pencil marks to the finished painting. What I struggled with was making abstract shapes, loosening up the leaf shapes, roses…Also, finding the right brush to use ( I do have a nice selection of good round brushes) and figuring out the right amount of water/paint. The paint would dry too quickly for me to easily blend in more colors. I also had a number of hard edges that I went back in to try to blend out.
Lots to take away from this class. Now I want to start fresh and try it all again! Thank you, Isa, for sharing your talent and creative process! Abstract Flowers - image 1 - student project
