A Scene of "The Sound Of Music"
The Sound of Music is the first movie I remember watching with my family when I was young. My sister and I would always sing along to the songs and follow the dances from the film. I can't wait to share this piece with my family; hope they recognize it just by looking at the painting :)
1. My Favorite Scene

As a bookworm in my childhood, I was thrilled when Brigitta von Trapp appeared with a book in her hands. Since then, she has remained my favorite character in the movie, even though her personality isn't explored much after that scene.
2. Rough Sketch
3. Line Art (I got my first Lightbox for this step, which was exciting!!! )
4. Final Illustration
a. Original scanned painting
b. Corrections Made in Precreate
Thoughts
1. Shadowing:
I usually draw on my iPad, where adding shadows is as simple as creating a new layer. Working with traditional mediums like gouache and watercolor was a totally different experience. When I tried to paint over an already painted background, it left strange stains. I had to repaint areas multiple times, which only worsened the issue. Next time, I will use different showdow colors for different objects and avoid painting over already applied paints.
2. Paper:
I am still figuring out how to control water for gouache and watercolor. Sometimes the paper is too absorbent or too slick, resulting in stains or a flat texture. I might experience with different types of paper.
3. Guide/Blue Pencil:
The package says that it would not show up in photography or scans, but it was quite visible in both.
______
To Madison,
Keeping this journal was a pleasure! I could only dedicate about 30 minutes a day, so it took me about a week to finish. However, during this time, I eagerly anticipated each day's hobby time. Thank you so much for making my life more exciting!
